Technical Office
Our technical office exists to find the best solutions for efficiency and resource use.
Value Engineering
Our approach to Value Engineering rests on a team of five engineers who, working alongside external engineering practices, analyse every project from the earliest stages to optimise both cost and performance. The technical office draws up demanding programmes, weighing details such as materials, structural configurations and construction methods, and tests feasibility through simulation and detailed calculation. To sharpen the programme further we use concrete maturity monitoring, for example, so formwork can be struck as soon as the strength is sufficient. As another example of our know-how, we developed an L-shaped steel profile for expansion joints in industrial floors, reducing working space and maintenance costs. The result is tailored solutions that maximise operational efficiency, shorten time on site and bring down overall cost.
Testing and verification
A range of tests is carried out on site to confirm that our work performs as it must. Our procedure covers testing and verification of the following:
- Setting out (total station)
- Sub-base bearing capacity (plate load tests)
- Concrete slump (Abrams cone)
- Water/cement ratio verification
- Concrete strength class and durability
- Concrete compressive strength (cube testing)
- Pull-off adhesion testing
- Permissible floor loading (load tests)
- Flat roof watertightness
- Thermal bridging (thermography)
