OBJECT OF THE WORKS:
Conservative restoration of seventeenth-century building
The original core of the House dates back to the 1600s, when the building was the home of the Melazzi, an aristocratic Alexandrian family. Over time the property also housed a foundling asylum and a spinning mill, to become an income house in the 1800s. It has been restored with philological criteria, preserving the rich wooden apparatus consisting of coffered ceilings and a cornice that is also coffered. The floors were redone in terrazzo Venetian style. The project was drawn up by Prof. Léon Krier.
